Valencia and Murcia
The city of Valencia is a very popular tourist destiny
as much among the Spaniards as the foreigners. During
the 12 to March 19 week are celebrated the Fallas, one
of the most spectacular celebrations of Spain. During
it, all the city is filled of giant cardboard figures
that burn on 19 March (la cremá).
The Azahar Coast includes - from Vinaroz - all the length
of the Coast of Castellón and the Valencia Gulf
until Denia. The more popular tourist cities are Peñíscola,
Benicarló, Benicasin, Alcosebre, Oropesa, Castellón
de la Plana, Cullera, Gandia, Oliva and Chisvert. Alicante,
dominated by the Santa Ana Castle and a city that has
a very varied supply of leisure possibilities. It is worth
the trouble to take a walk by the Marine Stroll and to
visit the Old Zone.
Murcia has a precious Cathedral and a University with
several interesting civil buildings. The most important
festival of this city is the Flowers Battle, celebrated
every year during Easter. The coastal region has several
very popular tourist complexes: Manga del Mar Menor, La
Union, Carboneras, Port of Mazarrón and Aguilas.
The city of Cartagena was founded by the Carthaginians
on the 2nd century BC, has many Roman ruins and a very
interesting Municipal Museum.
