Mesón
de la Victoria Museum
The Museum of Popular Arts exhibits the traditions and
customs of the 18th and 19th centuries in Malaga. The
building, constructed in the 17th century, was formerly
the Meson de la Victoria (Victory Inn), whose owners boasted
to take care of the best inn of the time. The house has
two plants with a central inner patio where are a fountain
and a well. Next to the patio is the old barn, that still
conserves vehicles from that time.
In the ground floor are exposed some aspects of the old
daily life of Malaga: the tahona, with the bread furnace
and a collection of utensils that were used to knead it;
the lagar, where the grapes were pressed and a warehouse
with a sample book of Malaga wines. Among the superior
plant outstands the alcove, with the typical furniture
of the time and the fine and worked white clothes. Other
rooms keep important collections from Malaga ceramics,
farming instruments and typical suits of the time.
